I am a 19-year-old and I hate texting. Does that make me a misfit?
What is your opinion on texting?
Yes, it does make you a misfit, although you did not say what your attitude is about communication in general. Is it merely texting you dislike, or do you dislike communicating with people at all?
In the new BBC series, "Sherlock!," the modern Sherlock Holmes prefers texting because he dislikes speaking verbally to people less intelligent than himself. Texting keeps the conversation as short as possible, so it's more tolerable to him.
I don't care to text myself, but I'm an old geezer. The main thing I don't like about it is the expectation that one must respond immediately. I resent that expectation.

But I agree with that. I make sure people understand I do not reply immediately and I will go off on people that expect immediate replies. I am not at your beck and call...
I prefer texting. Doesn't require me to drop what I'm doing and be occupied by being on the phone with someone. Plus I can respond whenever I feel like it.
I like it for quick questions, for sharing a photo, and other brief things. But I don't like the extent that it has replaced phone calls. Even as a 50-something year old woman, I have long-term friends who have made it obvious that they would rather text than ever have a phone chat. And sometimes what starts out as a simple, quick text becomes more complicated, and I HATE typing out paragraph after paragraph as we attempt to sort out everything via text! Yet if I call her during this now out of control text session, she won't even pick up. (Ummm, I know you're there....we've been texting for 10 minutes! And we're retired, so you're not in a work meeting!)

It's crazy.
Implement a rule I use: if it takes more then 5 messages to convey the thought, I call.
