I got the Google Pixel about a week and a half ago. This morning it was at 100 % charge so I took it and went out to run some Saturday morning errands. My phone was working fine until I took it out right before I was about to head home to use it to send a quick message. At this point the phone was off and overheating. I left it alone to cool down and when I got home tried plugging it into the charger but nothing happened. It feels cool now but it still won't power on and charging does nothing. Is my only option a trip to the store to see about getting a replacement?

You have another option.
Trade it in on a different phone.

Actually I left it to cool all afternoon and now it seems to be working just fine. THe battery got drained so that needs to be recharged but it looks okay. *Knocks on wood*

Look at the battery stats to see what caused the high battery drain.

Definitely check the battery stats or bring it in, it could have a bad battery. This happened to me with my S6, the battery would get so hot due to apps that were running and drain the battery.

If it got hot, then there is a problem with your cellphone, regardless of kind. It may get slightly warm at the beginning, but never too warm or hot.
