I looked at Consumer Celluler. 4000 minutes of talk. $40. One line. Add 4 gigs of data another $40. With Verizon we have 4gigs of data two lines for $90. Am I missing something?
Note that both of us have unlimited text and voice. And between the two of us use two gigs a month unless we are traveling.
With project Fi you could get two lines unlimited calls, texts for $35 and then $10 per gig of data. The catch is you can only use Some nexus phones or the new pixels.
Do you really need unlimited? Do you really need 2gb+ per month?
The big secret to saving money is to need less. (This applies in most areas of life.)
I use Tracfone and it costs me less than $100 per year for service. I limit my use: less than 100 talk minutes per month (I don't like to talk on the phone anyways), less than 100 texts per month, less than 100mb data per month (only use it to check email or weather radar). I have Verizon service with Tracfone. Great coverage even in remote parts of the western US.
I use my phone on wifi a lot for browsing and such. If I want to make a longer phone call I have a free Google Voice number and App and make a free calls and texts over the internet.

Do you still have a landline? We don't. What is your monthly landline phone bill?

My "landline" is a Google Voice number and an Obi100 box, hooked to my modem and a regular home phone handset. I can make free calls over the internet (DSL $25/mo). This has worked great for us for over 4 years now.
