Had flip phones for years, used as a phone only.
It lasted days and days without charging.
I've read here and other places about the optimal time to charge but.....
Others I know plug theirs in at night regardless of how much power they have left.
I have been trying to let it run down to a lower percentage and, you guessed it, it was just dead now when I went to use it. (Still use only as a phone or for texts only so far )
Who recommends what?

Mine charges a lot faster if I turn it off. I have a Galaxy S7, and I also charge it at night.

I plug it in overnight, batteries don't degrade much, and if they do, it's after a few years

swap out the battery then if you haven't changed phone/it broke from something else

Extended question....it's now showing charged to 35%(and still plugged in) but is still non-functional...only screen that will show is that it's still recharging.
Galaxy Sky.....can't I use it while charging or yet?
Tried unplugging but then totally non-responsive.

I don't know if it will help anybody else but, reads some hints to remove the battery...all I did was start to remove the cover and , didn't even take it off, and everything came back.

Just charge it every night and not worry about it. That way it will always get you through a day.

Most of the battery BS relates to old nicad technology and developing memory in the battery. Lithium does not work that way at all. Charge anytime you want. There's no memory for lithium.

Charge it when I want to charge it.

Usually charge mine at night, if I remember, in the car when using GPS, when using hotspot for an extended period of time, or when it needs to be charged.
