Email and cell. When texting came about I was like: "What? Home phone, cell, and email isn't enough? We need a fourth way?"
Now I don't have a home phone (and it's ridiculously expensive for what it is!) and have text turned off. That has been a problem for some, but only business people who assume everyone texts, and some have thought I ignored them - so when I do contact them again, I have to let them know I don't text. (Contractors/residential workers seem particularly prone to this assumption...I guess it's easier for them)
Email is okay, but only if you're sending me attachments or information that needs to be formatted (like invitations with lots of details). Otherwise, email is the new facsimile.
I'm just happy to have communication.
Text, call, email? All fine with me.
Facebook messenger from friends and family? It's OK.
SMS on the phone is crummy for professional use.
As text becomes more integrated with desktop and laptop, and easier to backup, it may equal email. I already use MSFT Your Phone to text from my keyboard. It is crude and underdeveloped, but it is easier than phone SMS and I can pull photos off my computer to share.
Depends on the person I am communicating with. Some prefer phone. Some prefer text. Some prefer email. I don’t have a preference, but to chat with a friend for an hour It will be by voice or face to face.
Texts for warning such as a charge on a CC, and occasional from out of state friends. Talk on the cell phone (I only have a cell phone and computers) with those out of state a few times every month. Direct face-to-face with local friends; masks are optional. Strangers I keep my distance from, since regardless of the Wuhan virus, I probably won't like them anyway.
