My son will be attending college in Charleston this fall, we are from L.I.N.Y and we found an affordable apartment for him to rent in Summerville, it's 1208 boone-hill rd. How is this area? We would like to know if its a bad area or what... Thanks!
that's within a mile or so of some areas I personally wouldn't move him too... do a ride through of that area at night on a weekend, or any evening as the sun starts to set and you'll get the picture of that area...
there's some seedy people that lived within a couple mile radius from there, and there has been a substantial amount of crime there compared to most of S'Ville... try calling S'Ville PD and asking them about the area, they might tell you about the dude they had to shoot dead a couple of miles down a couple of weeks ago... that area seems to be going downhill rapidly
I'd look into the Oakbrook area of S'Ville, many on Old Trolley Rd... and there's some good safe apts several other places as well, but knowing that area I'd stay away from that section of 17A all the way to Orangeburg Rd and then some...

Uh, no. You really don't want your son living in this area. I would suggest you keep looking.
