So what you're saying is it's ok to sterotype and lump all Christians into the same camp as those like Westboro? Since you have such little sympathy for those unjustly attacking one belief system, don't complain when yours is unjustly attacked through the same kind of stereotyping.
To answer the question. No, The Charleston metro as a whole to include Summerville is not as religious as most of the Southeast. There isn't a ground swell of evangelicals or Mega-Churches that used to be K-marts like you would see in the Upstate or Midlands. I have been all over the Southeast from Louisiana to Florida and every state in between. Charleston Metro is pretty tame. The religious aspects of Charleston are purely cultural.
