I am moving my family (myself and 2 teenage daughters) to the Mt Pleasant area next spring, and I have a million questions. I have lived in a 50 mile radius for my entire life, and the thought moving 1400 miles away scares the hell out of me! But I have the winters here and really need a change. Of course my kids are my biggest concern, they are excited to move somewhere new, and I have done my research on the schools there. I see that Wando is a great school, however it is HUGE compared to what they attend now. What are your thoughts?
I don't want to buy a house right away, any ideas for townhouse or something similar close to the school?
I currently work at Trader Joe's here, and plan on transferring to their new store in Mt Pleasant, but plan on looking for something else also. What are the best resources for job hunting? I have 13 years accounting experience and 7 years I have owned and managed a coffee shop.
I don't even know where to start!
Thanks for any help you can give me

My son is a freshman at Wando -- it's big but they are prepared and organized. It's a great school academically and they work very hard to manage the size with the kids in mind. (That's my initial impression anyways).

First good luck....

Second Wando is a great school....

Third don't discount our heat and humidity, I don't know where you are moving from but it is very very hot and humid here for about three months in the summer....

As far as jobs, once you get down here you will be able to get a feel for how you want to proceed, if opening your own business is a good idea or working for someone else. I wouldn't try to move two kids that far after living in one spot your whole life and try to open a business at the same time, too many variables Like they say KISS....

Once again good luck...

There are lots of rentals in the neighborhoods close to school.Average price:$1400 for a 2 bedroom townhouse in Dunes West or $1550 for a townhouse in Hamlin Plantation. Also you should consider Park West, and Brickyard, all close to the high school and 15-20 min to Trader Joes.

I have had two girls at Wando and they love it. One already graduated one is a current freshman. Not sure where your coming from but this is a great area.
There are plenty of town homes and condos in this area. Rentals go fast right now and the rents are high. But the area is worth it. A 2-3 bedroom townhome/condo range from 995 ( less than 1000 sqft) to 1850 for 1700 sqft. The market may be different when you move in the spring but right now there are only 19 townhomes for rent in the entire area. I'd agree the average cost is about 1550 a month and that doesn't include any utilities.
