My parents are Korean and they are considering making the move with us to Charleston. They are concerned that they will not be able to find a decent international food market that will suite their needs.
Also... They successfully ran a business in NYC for 30 years and are looking to branch out into Charleston and do a food truck. Is there an overabundance of food trucks already or is that concept still fairly new to the area? Thinking of doing it around the bases/office areas.

There are two Asian markets, one is in North Charleston, I forgot where the other one is located.
There are a couple others that are listed, but I dont know if it's what your mom would be looking for.
There is an international food truck 'roti rolls' that has random international food but not specifically Korean. Their kimchee is freaking amazing though
Other then some Mexican food trucks in North Charleston, the Food Truck idea is still somewhat novel to the Charleston area.
It is taking hold in the Columbia area and there was recently a city council issue raised over licensing and parking. Many of the brick and mortar restaurants were trying to limit the trucks. The truckies won so I expect to see more growth in that concept. Even some of the forward thinking brick and mortar restaurants are thinking of opening trucks to expand into other parts of town.
The only one I know of is in North Charleston just off of 526 on Rivers Ave.
Sorry to hijack, but where are the food trucks?! I've seen a few driving around town, but have never seen one parked and serving food. I'm specifically interested in the Cajun one. I'm going to google them in a second.
They are located near the Celadon outlet on the Old Navy Base Monday through Friday, as well as outside of SAIC and SRC during the week. It rotates through who is where but usually there's at least one that sounds good every week. If you have Facebook, you can look up the Charleston Food Truck Federation and like their page, they update which food trucks are at each of those locations (as well as the addresses I believe) each day.
H&L always advertises on Channel 5. They are probably the most well-known Asian food market.
