Strayer is a for-profit career college. There are a number of these types of schools located around Trident's North campus. They specialize in 2-yr degree and certificate programs focusing on the medical, business, criminal justice and cosmetology fields. The upside for students, in comparison to Trident, is the focus on the field with less emphasis on general education classes. The downside is that tuition is expensive and credits don't transfer to 4-year schools like CofC and MUSC. I teach at one of these schools and have had several students who wanted to continue with their education at MUSC but needed to take classes at Trident to meet requirements.

Thanks, that is really good to know. The VA is paying for Jeff's classes, but I'm sure he isn't aware that they are not transferable. Not sure it matters for what he is studying, but still good to know.

I've done this. So has a friend of mine.

He did a two year degree right out of high school and finished at C of C. His brother started there and finished an engineering degree at Clemson.

I took the long way around but eventually did a two year degree there and finished my 4 year degree at CSU. I'm working on an MBA at CSU now.

They offer degrees and certificates for a wide range of fields.
