Young and old are pretty much mixed arouns here, not one area that is one way or the other, with the exception of a few retirement communities....

You must see properties that are listed under 100K in person. There were nothing but disappointments when we were looking last year. Real Estate seems to ave perked up since then as well.

Choose some properties to look at, find a realtor and carve out two or three days to look at houses all day, and look over the city at night. You'll know pretty quick where you're willing to live.

the back part of Air Harbor is in better shape than the front, very old houses there that were old when I moved there 30 years ago... you're close to a lot of places young people hang out there, also plenty close enough to downtown and the beaches too

I owned a house back up in there back in the late 80's early 90's when I was in my late 20's early 30's... it was a happening place to live back then because it's central to all areas of the Charleston IMHO... you'll find many places rockin near there, and many people to ask where's the best these days

I was raised West Ashley, moved out of it about 17 years ago because it was getting crowded and I was getting older... moved to Summerville for the DD2 schools shortly after my daughter was born. she's gone to college now but I'm staying put... for now...

my son, who's 19, heads to West Ashley to hang with his friends... must still be a great place for the younger generation because he's into all that new gravely sounding type music etc that us older peeps don't care for

almost sounded like my parents there... lol

but yeaa, West Ashley should suit you fine, just drive around on a weekend evening with someone to show you around so you can see what spots to stay out of... every place has it's bad spots
