Hello I'm trying to get some information about the charleston area. Possibly thinking about relocating. Where are good schools. We are a young family with small children. What are some good/safe locations. We have looked at Mt. Pleasant because of the schools but just wondering about other areas as well. We like to walk, go to parks, and the beach. Possible pet friendly or a dog park? A decent drive to the hospital. My husband is a nurse and doesn't want a long drive. How are the people there? I have family in Columbia and they want us there but we want to be closer to the beach. Any info will help. Thank you

Mt. Pleasant, James Island, West Ashley. You'd have to see them first-hand to know if the schools, commute, etc. are to your personal expectations, but I think you could find what you're looking for in either of those locales.
You also need to specify what "the hospital" is. There close to 10 hospitals in the tri-county area and that aren't all in the same place. Driving to one may take 5 minutes and another may take an hour. From the Park West area Roper St. Francis in West Ashley is 40 minutes. Many of the other hospitals are closer.
