We had Restaurant Week fare at Burton's Grill tonight. Yum! My youngest had the Cioppino, and even though he was sure he wasn't hungry enough to get past the she crab soup app, he ate every bite. Every single food item on the table was terrific. Even at 9pm it was very crowded, but our waiter still managed perfect service.
Downtown Charleston was jumping tonight! Carolina's very good. Would love to go back in nicer weather and then take a walk in the Battery or at Waterfront Park.
Michael- we've done 82 Queen for Sunday brunch a few times and really enjoyed it, haven't made it in for dinner yet. The portions are large and the food is rich, so if that's your thing you'll love it. We always go for a long walk afterward. Their she-crab soup is the best in Charleston 10 years running (from what they tell me) and it is awesome.
We did Hall's last weekend for the 2nd time and it was incredbile. The bill was huge, but if you cut out things like a 2nd bottle of wine, truffle butter, an app then it's not too bad and worth it.
We did McCrady's for Christmas and had a wonderful time. Food, ambiance, staff...everything was great.
With all of these places they make you feel welcome and well attended but never rushed.
At the top of our to try list is FIG, Husk, Tristan's, Fulton Five and SNOB.
Oh and our favorite place for a drink and small bite is Bin 152.
Will use it as we consider places to take our CT company in April
Means we will have to check them out ourselves
Update on Nirlap... tried it again after reading the positives here but again not appetizing .. going back to Taste of India
I think an Indian rest. downtown would be great.. something different... but not really for the crowd, tourists who want 'Southern Cooking' while there.
But might be good for the locales.. but is that enough for downtown rental rates
I can dream can't I
