We also go there weekdays with no problems. That's why I didn't see what the big deal was about "2nd Sunday".
I was expecting a festival.. or block party type entertainment, but there wasn't any entertainment, or vendors, or tents... just a closed off street with people walking in the street.
Second Sunday is not about parties or bands. It is about shopping, dining and enjoying Downtown Charleston (King Street) without the worry of vehicle traffic. A very simple but nice concept.
No fanfare, tooting horns, SC memorabilia being sold to tourists.
Just a nice open air stroll, window shopping, restaurant shopping and people watching.
And entertainment provided by sidewalk local musicians every few blocks.
So very nice and simple... a laid back stroll.
If you prefer something else .......... go to Marion Park on Saturday with all the vendors and crowds and trying to walk up and down the aisle.
