We are looking for a retirement destination and have spent time in many seaside communties on the East coast. We are in our early 60s but very active, Edisto Beach seems like a wonderful town but we were just there for a few days not long enough to get a real flavor of the island or what the surrounding area is like. We were there in the off season so did not experience the tourist congestion. Other than being somewhat isolated which is one of its attractions to us, would appreciate some feedback from those of you who know this area. Thanks.

Edisto has a great waterfont presence ... but calmly & tidely, inland, not ocean. Peaceful and nice.
If you're open to half the year being in a place that's small town (really small town) AND THEN being filled up with happy visitors, go for it!

Sorry, thinking of the inlet, so calm.

Not convenient to doctors/groceries/other activities. Very busy in summer.
