roxanneself, I have friends in Portland, and it is beautiful...but soooooo rainy and sooooo many grey days...I would go comatose with SAD.
I need salty breezes in my face, and warm sand squishing between my toes and the smell of sea and sun tan oil. I'm not gonna lie to you, I wonder if Charleston is too pricey for my little lifestyle, but when I visited there...my heart opened to the feeling of 'home'.
Is Summerville more affordable than Charleston or about the same?

Summerville is much more affordable but the salty breezes, squishy sand aren't so close by.

hmmmm....I've been reading various posts throughout...do the Charleston folk really dislike Ohioans? I am Southern raised but Dayton and I imagine Ohio in general has changed. Folks here don't want to interact, husband says they are like robots just filing along, no human contant, eye or otherwise, and I find them to be a bit inconsiderate. I guess my family passed on that Southern charm to me because I am just the opposite.
But from what I've been reading, is Charleston loosing it's Southern Grace due to outside influence?
Are the natives being swallowed by the out of towners?
One thing I loved about Charleston when I visited was the homes...what, cracker box communities built now without that Southern architecture??
Will I find that empty humanity in Charleston as well now??

Oh and I do apologize that that Ohioan in 'the negatives about Charleston' post who was soooo rude. I hope he don't move back close to me! I see the 'group' who writes on my post in that post too...he was really out of line.
