I've heard great things about this German Shepherd rescue in Holly Hill:

CAS is having an event this weekend. All adult animals are free. Also kittens are BOGO free.... They have a lot more than those on the adoption floor so it might be worth stopping in.

I got my dog at CAS. He's a mini Schnauzer with perhaps a little Fox Terrier in him. Had him almost 2 years now and he is a GREAT dog. I definitely suggest using Petfinder.com to find a shelter/foster dog in the area. Plenty of full breed dogs out there.

Charleston Greyhound Rescue. They brought him by so he could stay with us for a week to see if he would be a good fit and we fell in love. We were going to use the Shepherd Rescue and they seemed really nice, it was just the greyhound rescue had a dog sooner.

I am a member of Greatfull Goldens rescue of the Low Country (ggrlc) and I provide foster home care for rescued goldens. Last month had a litter of puppies who have all been adopted. Currently I have a beautiful female full bred golden w/ papers. She has a seizure disorder and was over medicated. When I got her she could barely walk and was falling down all the time. She has weaned off the medication and is starting another and has only had 2 seizures this past month. She is now running, jumping and following every command- just a beautiful dog!!! check out the ggrlc web site for available dogs.

Charleston Animal Society is having another fee waived promotion Wed-Sunday. They have these when they are at capacity or over capacity. This means a lot of animals to pick from!!!!

I bought a Samoyed from a breeder in Concord NC just northeast of Charlotte in 2000. Awesome dogs.

I am such a huge fan of CAS. They adopted out 203 animals yesterday.....the first day of their free adoption promotion that goes until Sunday. It was a record number and the fact that it happened on a Wednesday is just crazy cool! They come spayed/neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines and free vet check. A great deal if you are considering adding a pet to your family.
