I hear West Ashley referred to as "West Trashley" all the time, but I've never seen anything in West Ashley like the AmeriGas wasteland on Long Point Road in Mt. Pleasant. Doesn't the town have ordinances against these types of eyesores? Is there any plan to move it or at least block it off from public view, and if not, how does one go about raising the issue?

I can't think of where you're talking about? Are you mistaken and thinking of the concrete plant that's across the street from the Harris Teeter on Long Point? If so, it's been there a lot longer than most of these new neighborhoods has been. I'm guessing unless someone offers them a decent chunk of money for the land, they're there to stay.

That's the area. AmeriGas is on the other side of the road. At least the concrete plant is partially obscured by a (crumbling) wall; the other side of the road is just barren land littered with propane tanks. What bothers me isn't necessarily that it's there but that it just looks awful.

So what we're saying is because it has been there for a long time it's aesthetically pleasing.. gotcha.

I don't think the city can do much about moving it, aside from rezoning.

Actually the point Meks is making is that if you move next door to something, you have no call to complain about it.

Towns have been know to pass ordinances forcing businesses to put up fencing that will block the public view...just saying.

There isn't a town, city, community in the world that doesn't have some ugly side. Write a letter to Mt. Pleasant asking them to create a more aesthetically pleasing buffer along the road...who knows? You never know until you ask.
