We will be hosting a rehearsal dinner for about 50 guests next spring for my son and his bride. We do not live in the area and don't really know where to start. My husband and I are going to take a small trip to the area in a few weeks to try to nail it down, but I'd like suggestions of where to start. I want a nice restaurant that has private space for the dinner, parking close by, and would like to keep the costs to about $40/p exclusive of alcohol if I can. Any suggestions?

I don't know if you're looking specifically in downtown Charleston, but if not, check out the Old Village Post House in Mt Pleasant. My fiancee and I are having our rehearsal dinner there, and we checked out a lot of places before. The Pitt Street room, which is a private area on the second floor, seats about 50 people, and the menu options start at $40 and go up to I think $50 per person. The food is great. We've eaten there numerous times for dinner and brunch. The parking in the little center it's located in would be tough, but they told us people are allowed to park in a church parking lot that is a very short walk down the street. The only thing my parents were concerned about when we took them there was that people would have a tough time finding it, since it's tucked away in basically a neighborhood setting. But that's what GPS is for! Other than that, they loved it as well.

Thank you so much for the feedback. They are actually getting married in Mt. Pleasant so Old Village Post may be the perfect place.

Old Village Post House was one of my favorites. They will do a great job and the location is interesting. If you can strike the proper deal, it will be a success.
