Hi I'll be visiting Mt Pleasant in a couple of weeks while on vacation in Hilton Head. We are looking to relocate to Mt Pleasant in a year or two and plan on making a quick visit. We have visited a couple of times but have never been to the beach in Mt Pleasant. Which beach should we visit?
thanks

Sullivan's Island and the Isle of Palms are great beaches, and they are right there at Mt. Pleasant.

I prefer IOP because I have a County Park pass and it is easy to just park in the county lot. I also like that there are bathrooms and showers and that it is right where the shops and restaurants are.

You definitely should go to both IOP & SI to see the difference in atmosphere.
As far as the county park at IOP: while there is a parking lot included with the annual pass to all county parks, we never get in the IOP county lot because it's always closed by 10 am on the weekends -- FULL! So SI is our choice because we find spots open up there at 10 am when dogs must be off the beach. Of course, driving to the beaches on Saturday after 12 noon is ridiculous in itself traffic-wise.

Try going further north on IOP--- Station 25 and up -- lots of places to park on the side of the road...much easier than SI on any given day. But yes visit both.

All the beaches have their own distinct character, and it's definitely a matter of personal preference. I happen to be a Sullivan's gal; going there is like a Zen experience for me.

Personally, I would visit both beaches. There's a bridge between both islands so you could easily hit them both especially if you have a whole day and like the beach.

I would go to IOP first due to crowds, then hit Sullivan's (Sullivan's has some really highly rated restaurants!)
