Last week, we had several gas stations in the metro with prices in the 1.70's (reg unleaded). A week later, it seems that most all area stores have jacked up their prices to $1.99.

Did something happen locally to cause this? Oil is fluctuating around $45/bbl, RBOB is steady as well. I'm thankful for gas under $3, but such a sharp rise, at a time of year that prices fall. What gives?
