I saw that on another Soicial Media feed (FB) also.

It would be unfortunate to learn that the people we trust to manage and protect our investments (homes) are taking advantage of their position. It almost sounds like ......

I live in Wescott, and there have been many disenchanted homeowners that have spoken up about the lack of transparency by the management company. These are OUR HOMES, and our's to protect.

That lawsuit involves a single management company - Marshland, and perhaps a single individual - the owner Karen Colie. Not sure this is a rampant problem throughout the Lowcountry.

In Wescott, the HOA fee is $350 or so per year. They keep my section well maintained. The Pool is very nice. About the only time I hear from them is their annual "Powerwash you house" Letter. Which I will ignore til after the Pollen Season.

It's not a rampant problem throughout the lowcountry, but this is a big deal because Marshland manages over 40 subdivision HOAs all over the Charleston area...from Summerville to Mt. P.

I think you should use the past tense "managed" 40 subdivisions. This is a cut-throat business and the big players like Community Management Group are lining up to make proposals to the offended HOA's. No right-thinking Board will renew with the Marshland group after this.

LOL...that's a given. I also live in one of the affected subdivisions.

This happens all over the place -- more than you know. My brother lives in Canada in a townhousee and they had to do the same thing with their HOA -- they eventually won -- but it wasn't a big prize.
