Awesome news. Laguintas will open a taproom and also make small-batch beers on premises. I love Lagunitas, so I'll be a regular customer. Southend Brewery was nice when they opened back in the 90s, but they'd really fallen behind the other breweries that have opened in Charleston.
It's funny, I never even thought of Southend when I thought of Charleston's breweries. They really missed the boat with that prime location and the resurgence of the local brew pub... they should have been leading the list here in the Holy City.
I know Lagunitas Brewery bailed on the old Southend Brewery building on East Bay St and I'm not sure exactly how it will be branded in the future but the new developer is requesting BAR approval to add a rooftop bar:

Item # 5 on the BAR's agenda at its Oct 24 meeting.
That building was not in good shape structurally. Isn't that why Lagunitas bailed ?
If it can be rehabilitated......it would be a wonderful spot for a Rooftop Bar.
