I know the question has been asked before, but I'd like to get the current view of the Food Experts here.

Which Seafood Restaurant on the Peninsula is considered The Best ?? We have some friends coming for a few days in September.......what is the "Don't Miss It" place ??
Also, is there any Seafood Restaurant around Shem Creek that plays with the Big Boys downtown ??

First Hand Experience is welcomed, as well as anecdotal evidence and unfounded rumor.

My vote is for The Ordinary. Hank's is another very good option.

The Ordinary, The Darling
Coda del Pesce on Isle of Palm

Fish on King Street gets great reviews. I've only been during Charleston Food & Wine Festival but the food that night was very good

Somebody was on our Restaurant Thread a few weeks ago with a good report about The Ordinary.....was that you, Moneill ??

In reading their Menu -- Is there only one main course each night of the week ?? Or is the Shellfish Tower the way to go ??

I am a fan of The Ordinary. I think it was someone else who went recently.

We usually do the tower. I think they have at least one special featuring the catch of the day but there are other options on their menu.

There are several main courses, and a lot of small plate kind of items for sharing. The crispy oyster sliders are excellent. The shellfish tower is definitely the star of the show for me. They have happy hour between 5:30 and 6:30, with the triple tower for only $89. That's a great deal for what you get.

Good to know about the reduced price on the triple tower. That and a glass of cava and I'm a happy girl.

In Charleston even a restaurant not labelled 'seafood' will usually have a decent seafood option.

The Obstinate Daughter on Sullivan's is a great spot for visitors. If you can't get a table sit at the bar and enjoy. They have great house cocktails.

The Darling has some great 'draft' cocktails too.

Some folks love Coast. We went once and it was okay. Always mean to go back and give it a shot.

Hank's -- we've been a couple of times but it isn't top of my list.

Not sure how our friend's scheduled visit will play out in Sept, but the preliminary idea is a walk-about downtown, and an early dinner followed perhaps by the Sunset Harbor Cruise on the Carolina Belle. Still hammering out the details, but it might be on a Saturday.

Do any of the above mentioned places do a seating around 4pm on Saturday ??
