So, I'm a surfer, and have been in the Ocean all year (not lately as I only guy in Summer, Spring, and Fall now). I use a spring suit in the Fall and Spring. There is no reason to wear a westsuit just to swim. It will be restrictive and not as nice swimming. The comfortable time , I agree with the above, is the end of May, maybe middle, if you just want to swim in your swim trunks. The end of May will be the best, as the water takes longer to warm than the air. It will be warm in April , but the water will still be very cold. Moneill is right, it takes time in the Spring for the giant ocean to warm up, and the rates of the hotels will raise after Memorial day. Your best best man, is to come the week before Memorial day, and hopefully the water is warm enough.

Thanks ! Great info ! I also have a wedding to go to (in Charleston!looking forward to that) the weekend of the 6 and 7th of May.So maybe we will plan to go the week after that or anytime before Memorial Day to avoid the bump in rates. So 2 trips to my favorite place this Spring!
