I live in this area (Old Mt P) and have only been to BiLo once that I can remember. My go to is the Harris Teeter or Publix. Realistically we have four groceries that are accessible on or near Coleman (Whole Foods, x2 Harris Teeters, and a Publix). I can see how summer months would attract shoppers before hitting the beach, but Publix directly on Coleman with its much more appealing design would have me making a stop there rather then the BiLo.

I could see the owners making a lot more money on bulldozing that shopping centre and want to re develope it like some wanted to so to the discount store on the marsh down the street. I just saw plans for multiple upscale units going in next to the Sullivan's Pointe.

I find it interesting how Teeter has attempted to oversaturate the market ostensibly to keep out some of the new players. But I've also anecdotally heard that a few former Piggly Wiggly locations are not doing well...especially the Folly Beach store.
I am not surprised the old Pigs are failing.

But that Folly Beach store is a cash machine during the season. It's the only full supermarket near the beach and it has fuel to boot. I could see Kroger just eating the poor sales in the off-season.

Lowe's Foods should be seeking sites for additional stores indeed.

You would be correct several former Piggly Wiggly Carolina Company stores are not doing well. Of the 22 stores in South Carolina and Georgia BI-LO acquired, five have closed and two are in the process of closing. Harris Teeter seems to be doing well with its seven acquired stores.
