Costco should have been in the north area forever. Summerville/Goose Creek and beyond has major pull that has still not been fully realized. Good thing Sam's is coming, but I personally would've done it backwards and put Costco in Summerville instead of Mount Pleasant, and then put Sam's in Mount Pleasant instead of Summerville.

How quickly could Costco arrive in Summerville?

I doubt they would come now. Maybe Goose Creek, but Charleston having 3 stores seems like a huge stretch.

If Costco sees its competitors opening stores in Summerville, it could be in position to take initiative to participate.

I think an issue for Costco could be where do you put it? This is anecdotal, but I had a long conversation with an associate at the Charleston Costco last year and she said they had been looking at Summerville for years. They just never did it.

Too bad for them, it is an untapped goldmine.

Sometimes it's more about getting permits, city and etc then actually saying I want to build here. Look at bass pro. Should of been happend but Weber and igles Drive in North Charleston is moving very slow.

Simple, not in Summerville. You'd put it in Goose Creek. It's not about Summerville, it's about the north area. But still, 3 Costco's in the Charleston metro would be a serious anomaly. It's crazy that Charleston County is even getting 2 to begin with.

I think 2 Costco's, 2 Sams', and 1 BJs in a metro of ~800k with solid income is good enough coverage.

It's just embarrassing for Costco and Sam's that scrappy little BJ's (relatively, in size) has a booming wholesale club open in Summerville and they don't.

Let's wait until the free membership expires before saying it's booming, yeah?
