As someone who enjoys sports and the outdoors, disc golf is a great way to get out and have a fun time. I am going to be new to Charleston this summer (and living in downtown). Which courses in the area are worth playing? And which ones are not?

I don't know but it looks like so much fun. I went hiking at a lake in NC in February and saw this chain looking thing and wondered what it was. I had never seen it before. Come to find out it was for Frisbee golf or I guess the correct name is disc golf. It hardly made sense because there were so many trees all over it was hard to believe how anyone could throw a frisbee without hitting a tree or at least that's how I throw.

I had to youtube the sport as I had never heard of it. The lake trails had nice signs at each hole. I wish we had gotten to see them play.

How did you get started in that sport?

It looks like after googling there is a place to play at Park Circle. Maybe some others can answer your question though.

I've played the course up at Sewee Outpost. It's ok. I see people playing the course at park circle occasionally as well. We played in the redwoods last year so everything here pales in comparison.

Played a round in summercamp way back when and the rest is history.

It looks like there are three courses on Johns Island, one on James, then Sawnee Outpost, two in West Ashley, one in North Charleston, and a handful around Goose Creek

That's a lot of quantity for one area and I'd be surprised if most of them are quality. It always seems like beach courses are placed there for tourist and without much thought put into them
