I was wondering if I could get some insight on the taxes down there. I live in the 2nd highest taxed state in the country (New York). I am trying to move down there. I figured that I would have to make about $20 per hour in order to make it comfortably. Then I realized that I figured that out going on my paychecks here. . .with NYS taxes. Here is how my paycheck ends up here. . .
Total Gross = $1,040.83
Net after taxes = $723.15
If I could get some examples of how much they are taking out in taxes down there, I would GREATLY appricate it!! I would like to know if the difference in the taxes is going to make that big of a difference.
Thanks a lot!!

Default Taxes

Try here. Workshops and Seminars

You should be able to select individual income on the left, and then navigate through to tax brackets and the like.

A safe estimate would be 20-25 percent of your income will go to taxes. I haven't taken a look at the website DJ posted but I'm sure you could find out more info there. Don't forget you will also pay property taxes every year for your automobile as well.

Not sure what type of job you will be looking for but good luck getting 20 per hour.

Before I became Self Employed and actually drew a paycheck, it was somewhere's in the neighborhood of 22-23% of my check went to taxes...

Now being SE, I write EVERYTHING off and pay as little as possible

Thank you!!! I am a LMT so $20 and hour is possible. My problem is that the market is saturated with LMT's and me not living there already is losing me a lot of job offers. I wanted to see if I could take a job making less than that without myself, my kids and my dog having to live in my car until I find something that pays more!!!
