I'm a local UPSTATE SC girl but I have spent time working and vacationing in Charleston. Also some of my close friends are from the area. The biggest thing to get off on the right foot is NOT to complain about how things are so much better where you came from
That really seems to bug folks there. The community seems very open to me since there are lots of folks from all over the place. This forum might be a good place to hook up with folks having similar interests or living in your prospective new neighborhood. All I know is to stay away from North Charleston because I keep hearing how terribly dangerous it is. SC is a big Bible Belt state. If you are a believer of a certain faith, getting involved in your church or synagogue will be a great way to meet people. WE look forward to having you and God bless in your new home!!!!!!!! (REmember to be patient...we talk slow, drive erratically and the humidity is terrible but you'll love it here)
