For those not familiar it's "boiled" peanuts pronounced as "bald". I have to confess, for years I thought they were disgusting. Something about a mushy nut just didn't appeal to me. lol Then one night at a Summerville football game I was sitting in the stands smelling the aroma rising up from the boiled peanut cart. I watched in amazement as the line to buy them was nonstop. I decided it was time to give them a try and I've been hooked ever since! Now I crave them and to find out they are good for your health is a nice added bonus. I can eat them guilt free!

So if you've been holding back give them a try, not only are they good, but they're good for you and pretty cheap too! We got some last night from Timbo's cart at the game. His were real good. Someone else told me Tony the Peanut Man's are the best. All I know is I can't wait for tonights game to get me some more hot bald peanuts!

Default Too funny!

We also wondered about the boiled peanuts -- I never heard of them prior to moving to SC, and agree they sound disgusting. We'll have to take your advice and try them.

Thanks! (I think)

I love them. I don't think you can eat them guilt free - very salty. At least the way I like to eat them ............ pop the whole thing in your mouth and suck out the liquid and de-shell them with your mouth then spit out the husk.

I love boiled peanuts if they are cooked just right. I don't like them mushy.

Oh, I love boiled peanuts! I haven't had them in eons.

Anyone know of a place on/near James Island to get some real good ones?

I used to enjoy driving along various country roads in South or North Carolina stopping at various roadside stands to get some boiled peanuts. I can almost taste them.

I gotta get me some bawld peanuts.

I like them, although I don't "Brake for Boiled Peanuts". They are definitely an acquired taste and if someone has them, I'll eat and enjoy them....but I don't crave them when I haven't had them in awhile.....the same way I feel about oysters.

Being from Virginia I always loved our tasty peanuts-- my first attempt at boiled nuts was on the street in Savannah-- my buddy laughed at me cause I spit 'em out and thought something was wrong. No more. I love 'em and whenever travelling in Dixie I will go to a convenience store to ''git sum'' and usually buy the cajun. Wally World also has 'em in a yellow bag that you can nuke--really good.

LOL! Yes I did get them and they were darn good too! I agree they are an acquired taste. Hard to believe the only thing they are cooked in is salt. The boiling just seeps out the flavor. yum. They taste nothing like a regular peanut for those who don't know. I'm going to have to try the cajun ones now.
