I am thinking about taking a weekend trip to Charleston the weekend after Thanksgiving with my boyfriend. We've never been to Charleston. Where are the best places to stay? Any suggestions for things to do or restaurants to eat at? We are 24 so we will want to get out and do things but we don't have tons of money to spend. Ideally I think we would like to stay somewhere close to the action, preferably under $150 a night. Also thinking about using Priceline to find a hotel, has any one had luck with this in Charleston??

If you can find anything downtown for under 150.00 a night get it, you should be able to find one or two.

Downtown area is full of resteraunts and places to see. There is also a great night life all around there.

Will you be driving in or flying?

If you are flying you may want to rent a car our public transportation isn't so great but the cabs are very good if you don't want to drive.

You can try priceline and orbitz.

Holiday Inn Riverviewn and Mt. Pleasant are both under 150.00 that weekend. Best Western downtown is under too.

Do a google search for Hotels in Charleston SC and you will get all of these.

We are driving, coming from Raleigh so its not too far. I've looked at hotels on hotels.com and various other sites but it is just hard to tell what area I should be concentrating in. I've seen the Springhill Suites by Marriott Charleston Riverview for $129, but I wasn't sure about the location...

I am a Priority Club member with Holiday Inn so I tend to lean that way. Spring Hill is pretty good.

There's a Hampton Inn and perhaps 1 or 2 other hotels at Ripley Point, which is short hop across the Ashley River from downtown, that might be worth considering. The "round" Holiday Inn should be checked too, its close-in location to both downtown and Folly Beach. Not sure what their rates are though.
