Greetings

My wife and I will be visiting Charleston in April and I noticed that there is a local bus ( route 11) from the airport to downtown stopping right near our hotel. Since I am a cheapskate and we are very light packers and will have carry on luggage only, I thought this might be a cheaper viable option.

My only concern is what type of neighborhoods will we be passing through and should we be concerned about safety or being hassled while on the bus.

We will definitely stand out as tourists on the bus with our luggage etc.

thanks in advance

Herb

I don't think you will be hassled while on the bus. Mostly everyone tends to keep to themselves and from what I can remember the neighborhoods aren't that bad. Do be warned though that the bus ride takes at least an hour compared to a 15 minute car ride to downtown.

yeah, bus ride wont send you through anywhere you wouldn't want to go, and really there isn't anywhere you wouldn't walk through here in Charleston, at least during the day. I'd just get a cab, the black cab company are probably your best bet in town, there really isn't a full blown cab company in town, most of the cabs I see are peoples cars that they got a cab licsence for, I give Charleston the #1 spot for most ghetto cab cars in the US. BCC is pimp-tastic, cool ride, really profressional, you'll think your in London.

You and maybe some people who work at the airport will mostlikely be the onlyones on the bus...
