so this thread made me want thai food tonight, lol. and i was too lazy to drive over to downtown in rush over traffic...so we got take out from jasmine on james island to give it a try. i did not go pick it up, but my husband said it was small, but cute inside. the food (although not packed that well...ew styrofoam) was actually pretty good. not the best thai food i have ever had by any means, but decent. enough so i would go back. the woman who took our order was very nice and helpful, they accomodated our special requests and had it ready in only 15 minutes. over all it was pretty good. the portions where huge and we have tons of leftovers, i would defiantly split entrees.
i am anxious to try basil though! jasmine was pretty good nonetheless.

Basil is at the corner of King and Ann. The visitor center parkign garage is at the other end of its block if parking looks dicey.
Had to go to a building two lights from the one I like in West Ashley today- it is Thai House. It is off Magwood drive in the Ashley Crossing shopping center. There are two other asian restaurants there too which made me laugh when I looked at the signs on the entrance to the center. Like I said- good food but not the atmosphere of down town.
I also really love Basil, but I tend to go to Mei Thai (formerly Kanok's) more often because it is closer to where I live. Their entrees are very fresh & delicious. If you look on the internet they normally are given 5/5 stars, and I fully agree. The prices are much more reasonable than Basil & the parking is much much much better.

But... The duck salad at Basil might be my favorite food in the world.
