Most people I know were transferred here --- job opportunity vs. politics/taxes or weather.

I'm from NJ (Monmouth County). I moved here 3.5 years ago. I moved for lower taxes and warmer climate. What I don't like down here is all the rain.

Moved here from Rhode Island in 1989 just in time for Hurricane Hugo!

Husband's mother came from rural North Carolina so he had visited the south his whole life. We BOTH hated the long winters, cold, damp and snow of southern New England. As soon as we were able we settled here and never regretted it for a minute.
