I intend to purchase a saltwater fish tank, and my son wants a reptile or some sort of small mammal. I am wondering if there are any good aquarium stores and pet stores, preferably the non-chains, but chains are fine if they have saltwater fish and reptiles. Thanks.

Petsmart is near Target, then there are some others but not to many for fish. There is one in Sangaree, north of Summerville on 17A, that has reptiles and other exotics.

Not sure if you have owned a SW tank before, but just in case you haven't I will share this with you...

They are a tremendous amount of work! Daily care is a must. If you don't have the time or patience then I don't suggest one.

I have had many SW tanks and the easiest to care for are the larger ones. You can maintain the water quality & salinity much, much easier. Another thing to be aware of is that you don't want to just go to ANY SW store. Some stores will sell you things simply to take your cash. SW is an expensive hobby and drain you quickly if you aren't knowledgeable and don't have a LFS who is as well. They take a long time to become the beauties you see on TV and such.

I do wish you luck and if I can help you please feel free to DM me.

I have had a saltwater tank before, but mostly freshwater. I hadn't planned to try saltwater again until I get a house. You're right, finding a good fish supply store is like finding a good dentist or lawyer.
