"Don't get in the locals way. My opinion is more relevant than yours." Blatantly obvious he/she is trying for a response. Gimme a break. There are plenty of natives and transplants alike on this site that can have nice, civil conversations without those comments. They're either 18 years old or have nothing better to do with their time. It gets old...GO AWAY.

I am not a troll. I live downtown, I have grown up here, my family came here in 1723. We dont want our city watered down anymore.

We have had enough of it. Cookie cutter plastic sided homes etc. When will it stop?

Heck I remember when we used to shoot ducks off of Lockwood Blvd, and go hunting in what is now Park West. Now the boat ramps are filled with rubber heads, and so are the beaches. Its truely sad to see such a great city ruined.

Sounds like its time for YOU to move further inland! Back where there's duck ponds and no cheap plastic siding homes! Obviously change is too much for you. There is a word for it, evolution...

No I am fine, though I do have 4,500 acres nearby. I just want all of the Yankee's and transplants to leave. Not asking to much of them.

change & evolution ≠ cheap plastic siding homes.

so much of the development here is completely irresponsible and it's sad to see the beauty and history of this city surrounded by such crap.

"we don't want our city watered down.............."

What's with the "we"? Did you form a committee, or are you royalty?

A lot of people get worked up pretty easily when it comes to foreigners - like Mexicans immigrating into communities with no interest in assimilation. Most don't desire to learn the language and would rather form their own mini-Mexicos in our country.

I think locals have every right to be upset with transplants that are moving here simply for the weather, the cost of living, etc. If there is no desire to assimilate to the local culture then they too are taking away from the area. I've seen people post on these boards that just want to move where the other transplants are (a lot of new yorkers) - how is wanting to stick to mini-New Yorks different from the mini-Mexicos?

Even though it's within the same country it's immigration just the same. And I think locals are justified in feeling that their culture is being snatched by them.

But then again, there are transplants that are moving here because they love the South and the history of Charleston. I'm sorry Oldemoney, but I am one of them. And most people that meet me think I'm more southern that many locals they know. I'm active in the Coastal Conservation League, Islanders for Responsible Expansion, a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, etc. I can't stand the way the development is happening here and I strongly respect locals (I wish I was one) and think they're entitled to feel the way most of them do about transplants. I can even understand if they don't like me because I am one, even though I want to save and preserve the way of life here.

All that old money shouldn't have developed the land and then -- guess what -- nobody would have moved.

Nobody held a gun to the heads of the locals who have profited by developing their land.

Like I have said twice now, just someone trolling to stir up trouble and start and argument.....

People like this get on message boards all the time and spout off all kinds of crap just to try to get a response from anyone who is actually witless enough to stoop to their level, you will never get them to change what they are saying and they will drag on the argument for days....
