If you were not aware, Regatta is coming back after all of these years! I believe that this will be a huge success for the city, and will help with the city's image. This year's event will feature over 50 free "family-friendly" activities.

The official web site for the Regatta is here: https://charlestonregatta.com/ and the Facebook page is here: https://www.facebook.com/charlestonsternwheelregatta

I'm hoping the event is a big success.

I wish I could be around for it. I'll be in town the following weekend.

A lot of great memories from Regatta's of the past.

All of the concerts are free. They will be closing off Kanawha Boulevard at lest from Court Street to Capitol Street for the duration, plus the first block of Summers and Laidley Streets.

In the past, anybody could take a boat to the Regatta. There were so many that boats were tied to boats, and eventually, they pulled some barges to the area to make more room.

Most of the events are free, but there are fees for some of them. The craft beer fest on June 30 has a cost. I'm not sure how much ($30?) because I've signed up to volunteer to pour beer that day.

I would recommend asking questions on the Facebook page. I went to a volunteer meeting and it seems like they are pretty well organized, so they should be able to answer questions.

We used to attend the regatta when we were in college in Montgomery in the early 80s.

The first night of Regatta seemed to be a huge success! I'm proud of the city for hearing what the people wanted, and brought back one of the best things it had going for it.

It did seem to go well. It was packed with people.

The city opened all the parking buildings for event parking, at $5.00. The Summers Street parking building was convenient for me since the beer festival was on Summers Street. They also had free parking at Patrick Street with shuttle bus service to the levee area.

Another good article about the success of Regatta. I'm glad the city finally did something right for a change. This could be the saving grace for the city's tourism industry. I'm was bummed that I was not able to go. I will be back in WV this coming weekend. Maybe next year.
