UC will be starting some big projects this summer, including renovating Gorman Hall.

Multi-millions worth of construction and growth will take center focus at University of Charleston beginning this summer.

UC President Marty Roth said the institution has a number of renovation and installation projects in store, including a new outdoor fitness court, a new walkway, and a completely-renovated space to house new graduate degree programs.

Roth said the biggest project will be the renovation and repurposing of Gorman Hall to make way for the new Morrison Rehabilitation Science and Athletic Center.

He said it will be a place to accommodate UC’s new occupational and physical therapy graduate degree programs.

It's always good news when either UC or State are growing!

I love UC and it's positive impact on the area. Unfortunately the campus is so small, and landlocked by buildings/houses/highway and a river. They do have great leaders that seem to make the most of the small space they do have.

One natural place for them to expand to would have been the Colombia Gas building and Frontier building. All of that land combined in almost double the size of UC's campus. Does Frontier really need to be there? Maybe they could follow TC Energy over to downtown and move into some open office space there. It's a pipe dream, but it would certainly help all parties involved. Heck, they could get a big logo sign on one of the office towers if it helps sweeten the deal!

I would really like to see more collaboration between UC and CAMC now that WVU has parted ways with them. Does anyone know why WVU still has classroom space adjacent to CAMC memorial? It doesn't make much sense for them to stay there seeing how WVU Medicine now has a large presence in the area at Thomas/St Francis. It they ever decided to leave that building, that would pen a door for UC to come in.
