I noted the Home depot in south charleston is accepting charitable contributions for the victims of late june flooding in the region. Should anyone be interested in throwing in their 2 cents...

I have 2 cents, but doubt mine would make a difference. What part of *in the floodplain* don't those folks understand? And on the water's edge to boot. I feel for the folks that couldn't afford to be higher and drier or further from water, but the facts remain - they had to know this was going to happen sooner or later. And yes, I am very familiar with the damages the floods did during the monsoon like rains of June. I have to drive through Mingo county two or three times every month. I see the roads washed away, the guardrails overwhelmed, the cliffs on a dangerous slant, the boulders sitting at the edge of roads that still remain. But, just like the I-35 collapse in Minnesota, it took devastation to get the attention of authorities.

Like I said, I'll keep my 2 cents.
