Currently in rural upstate NY looking to move to rural Charlotte. Looking for a small town(20,000 or less) within a 30 minute commute. Have 2 children so good school is a must. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Everyone has there opinion about the schools here which ca nopen up a big debate in itself. I live on the North Side of Charlotte and would suggest

Mooresville
Davidson
Cornelius
Huntersville

These are about 30 min rides into Charlotte depending on the morning accidents.

South Charlotte has some nice areas as well but my knowledge is limited on that side of town

Concord is up and comiing also and I have not heard to many negatives about the schools there.

Good Luck with everything!

I currently live in NY as well but moving to the suburban part of Charlotte. If you're looking at rural areas, I had been told that Waxhaw, Indian Trail are areas to consider. Good luck!

Is Charlotte really the place to look for rural areas? If I was looking for rural areas in New York, I wouldn't go to New York City to find one.

Even if you find a somewhat rural looking place on the outskirts of Charlotte like Waxhaw or Indian Trail, it will not be rural for long.

What about the Fort Mills schools? I looked and they didn't make the top 1200 schools though.

I drove through "The Farm" yesterday. The decorations like the tractor and sales office that looked like a barn were interesting.

Did you think the neighborhood was weird in its design?

Default Rural?

Rural Charlotte? That's cute, and will soon be a distant memory as the gap between RDU, Charlotte, and Atlanta slowly merge into one giant metroplex complete with Walmart's Subdivisions, and CVS Pharmacies on sq mile
