While I agree Gilchrist needs to go, I don't see this an example of any "good old boy network".

Hope Sean gets his job back, I've heard great things about him from people who work with him.

How else could something like this be tolerated?

not to be argumentative...BUT...Gilcrist could not act in such a manner unless HIS bosses were okay with it. Since he seems to not care about whether or not he acts in a civil/moral/ethical manner (let alone following the NC statutes), there has to be a network of people that support him in this. I am quite certain that this is not the first time something like this has happened; maybe just the first time it was publicized. He is not so high on that totem pole that he acts alone. His actions have to be sanctioned by a group of people; AND the fact that he was/is so blase about it shows that he has done stuff like this before. Therein you find your Good Ole Boy network. Those that look the other way when one of "their boys" does something that is not altogether right. It happens everywhere. Just hope that the public outcry on this one will stop this one anyway.

If his office has a policy about all communication w/ the press going through the DA,then he may have been fired for that.
Maybe not "fair" but a policy is a policy.

Probably not an intelligent move to immediately fire a lawyer under questionable circumstances, though. It may come back to bite them w/ a lawsuit.
