I have a job offer in Gastonia and now I'm on the hunt for a place to live. I am a single female in my early 30's with no children, so I would definitely like to live in a safe and hip area that has a diverse population of singles and families.

Any advice on which areas are the best, that's not more than 40 minutes to work?

I would like to stay under $1,100. A friend of mine told me there's nothing interesting about Gastonia, but I am interested in learning more about the city.

In your situation I'd recommmend you check Gramercy Square at Ayrsley. It's in southwest Charlotte and your commute to Gastonia would only be about 20 minutes during rush hour. You could have a very nice 2 bedroom apt there for just under $1000.

You can easily stay under that in Gastonia.

Gastonia has good shopping & is easy access to Uptown. Nearby Belmont & Mt Holly have nice downtowns. A nice restaurant is going into downtown Gastonia & will be opening late fall or early winter.

What sorts of things do you like to do in your free time? What you like to do would make a difference as to whether I would recommend that you give Gastonia a try.

Also, are you looking for an apartment or a house?
