We were recently in Denver and came across a huge Asian market. It was called H-mart. A great selection of produce and everything asian. According to their website they don't have an H-mart in Charlotte but I am wondering if there are any large asian markets in Charlotte. Not the small Mom and Pop strip mall locales, but something bigger, with housewares, bakery, meat market etc. Does anyone know of any?

It seems there may be one opening in Matthews at Windsor Square Shopping Center. It just says "International Market coming soon". I find that Asian groceries usually use that generic term.

Is that one any good? We drive by that all the time, but it always looks a little sketchy from the outside. I miss China and Japan town in SF, so I would like a place to go to that is a decent sized market. From the outside the one on Tryon looks to be fairly large.

We go there after we go to the Compare in the same parking lot. I havent been to many Asian markets to compare it to, but I like the selection of sauces and spices, which is what I am going for. They also sell live fish, frogs, snails, etc; which I've never seen sold in another store. They also have a bakery, with fresh steamed buns and breads.

at sugar and Tryon is a place called "Le's Vietnamese Sandwich Shop". $3 sandwiches... super yum. I recommend the spicy option, you won't be disappointed!

I live near there so I will drive by there to check out that info. Hopefully it will have what I need.

I've been to Zen, to me they have a large selection. I would just love it if somebody could walk me thru the store & explain what's good to try. A store tour if you will. I always walk into those stores & am dazzled by the packaging & then only come out with gummy lychees b/c that's about all I can figure out what anything is.

I have been to the one at Tryon/Sugar Creek. Yes, the outside is a bit dilapidated (watch out for the pot holes in the parking lot) but there are a lot of authentic Asian foods in there. Also, watch expiration dates if that means anything to you. Many times, things are out of date.
