Hi Everyone,

My husband and I live in Indian Trail and were looking to build a new deck. We have a ranch home and are just looking to replace the old small deck that is 12 years old and falling apart with a new, pergo, larger deck but nothing too crazy. We of course would like to hire a reputable contractor that we can rely on and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Thanks so much in advance for any help you can provide!!

I've heard good things about Archideck -- my neighbors used them and were very happy. However, I would not use composite decking if I were to re-do my deck. Aside from quality issues, it apparently gets BLAZING hot in the sun, to the point that it would burn your feet if you walked on it barefoot. My brother and his wife put it on their deck and regret it now -- you have to be very, very careful if you have small children, that they not walk on it without shoes. Then again, if might be a different story if your deck was in the shade. Good luck!

Right now I have "Decks Unlimited" re-building my 12x26 deck.

Allen Hagen (the owner/carpenter) is top rated on Angies List and hold an A grade with the BBB. He is not just a "general contractor", he is the carpenter doing the actual work (he is being char-broiled in my backyard as we speak). Deck/patios/sunrooms are all he does and he takes great pride in his work. I can't comment on the finished project since he is not done but I did my homework before I hired him and is worth a call. Price was fair and he was able to start a week and a half after we signed the contract.
