My contract is up and I would like to get a new phone before moving to Charlotte. While I know some posters feel the iPhone is overrated- looking for feedback on the service providers before I enter into a new contract.

I got ATT just for the iPhone when it came out and I stick with ATT ONLY because of it. The iPhone is the gold standard for a cell phone as far as I'm concerned and the only reason to ever choose ATT over any other provider...

So I guess what I'm saying is; choose Verizon, unless you're planning on getting the iPhone. The 'droid is definitely second best, for whatever that's worth.

Just debating if I should wait til New Year and go with Verizon, or get the Droid and deal with it...sounds like either way- Verizon is the preferred company there in CLT.

I think you first have to decide what you are going to do with the phone, then pick the carrier or service that best meets those requirements. If you don't care about a status phone or need a phone that doubles as a computer, then I recommend just going to Walmart and picking up one of their no contract plans. $30 = 1000 min/month, $45 = unlimited.

Can you port your existing phone number into those phones?
