Hi, my mom is almost 68 and found out today she is losing her job. I have a feeling finding another job is going to be hard and I wanted to look into finding her housing that could be based on her social security (if that even exists). She does not bring in much a month so what is considered "low" rent to some to her would be impossible. Does anyone know of a place or anyone/agency I could contact? I really would like to help her if I can. Thanks!

You might want to try Just One Call. See below. Even though for some odd reason it is referred to in the past tense, it is indeed an active service. I called and got a ton of information for my elderly dad and go him signed up for activities with a senior center where he also has lunch each day. They know of a number of options for seniors in our community.

Good luck to you...it is hard turning the tables and helping to 'parent' your parent, even in the initial small steps. Taben

Here is the info:

Just One Call was a comprehensive listing of services and other resources for seniors and folks with disabilities and their families/caregivers. These included in part transportation, in-home services, financial aid, housing, legal services, etc. Call them at 704/
432-1111 Monday through Friday 8-5.
