This seemed to work for another poster earlier this week in another zip code so HELP!!!!
We will be relocating to Charlotte in or around November.
Looking for a quality preschool for a four year old girl.
We will be living in Berewick and I'm not all that familiar yet with what is around the area,so I guess I'd be looking for something with 10 min or so from the house. (sorry, from Calif and we measure distance in time not miles )
Thanks in advance for the help.
There is a Kids r Kids down 160 (steele creek rd.) just over the border in Tega Cay that might be your best bet. If you want church preschool, there are several churches on S. Tryon you could try. I will try to remember to post the names here for you, but I have to look them up tomorrow. There aren't a ton of good preschool options on this side of town, and unfortunately traffic is so terrible in the morning you don't want to go too far. I'll think about it for you! (i'm a preschool teacher living in Berewick, but work in Ballantyne.)
Tutor Time is very, very nice, but expensive. Nice, bright, attentive staff, nice toys, etc. There is a La Petite Academy around in that area that was not impressive. Kids squalling, dirty, old toys, seemed to be understaffed. My best friend was looking for a daycare in that area and was not impressed.
My daughter is at the Tutor Time on Tryon at Erwin in the 3 year old program. We like it, but it runs $195 a week. A tad bit more than I was paying in Northern Virginia (DC suburb). But the facility is very nice, and I agree the La Petite just up Tryon made a bad impression. I had my daughter at a La Petite in VA and loved it, but this one did not give me good vibes.
My daughter and I also did not like the Kids R Kids on 160W when we visited.
Tutor Time is not well staffed before 7:30 (in my opinion), the ages are all together until 7:30 and not enough teachers (I've seen 20+ kids (toddler to school age) with one teacher early in the morning). I don't bring my daughter in until 7:45 because of that. After that, they are staffed well enough (one teacher to 10 kids in threes) and the program is good. So if you are an early bird, visit early before deciding.
My daughter is happy there, which is my number one criteria.
Thanks for the response. I was orginally considering Tutor Time.....do they serve lunch or to I need to send her with one? I know this is minor but I just thought I'd ask.....$195.00 a week is alot, I pay $155.00 a week here in California. But since I don't know anybody in NC that I can trust as far as in home or church schools go, I really wanted to send her to a preschool with a national reputation.
Thanks again
Tutor Time serves lunch and snacks. I'm paying about $20 a week more than I was in NOVA, but the facility is much larger and nicer than we had. Of course, it's the teachers that matter. My daughter has connected well with her teachers. I'd recommend taking a tour and call to check on availability. I know the 3-year olds are maxed out. Good luck.
