We are thinking of leaving OC to move to Charlotte. I am interested in what kind of services are offered for kids. Our daughter is currently in speech that is paid for by the state. Does NC do this? Also, what type of help do you get if your child has other problem areas or learning disabilities?

I think it depends on the county - I live in Union County and you don't get much for learning disabilities and the speech needs have to be significant to get services

Your child has an IEP, right? Sounds like you need to contact the school district with your questions.

Good luck!

You should contact which ever county CDSA you are moving to, the CDSA is the organization responsible for providing speech (or other modality) services if your child is under 3. If they are over 3, then you should contact your local school district.

yes, the schools offer help and the level of help really depends on the needs of the child. I personally have found that the amount of help you receive is not comparable to many other states though. Especially if you come from a more progressive state
