Anyone who works there or knows someone who works there, I'm curious as to how hard it is to get on there? (DH has 20 years experience working in production)
I can tell you how Coca Cola treats its employees . They hire someone and tell them how much they will make after a certain amount of time if they work very very hard. Then after working very hard and finally getting to top pay its not long before they find some reason to let that worker go and then they start the process all over again..Lots of companies use this tactic. Harris Teeter is one also

My friend works there and he tells the same story. He's miserable there and has been trying to find a different job for months.

Unfortunately this is par for the course for most companies now.
This may not be relevant now, but I was a salesman for Coke in Charlotte back in 1984-84, back when "New Coke" was introduced, sales hit rock bottom in a matter of weeks. We were on straight commission, even during the cold months when sales dropped even more. Many drivers and salesman protested. We even had large employee meetings in the auditorium about this. But the corporate wigs didn't budge. Not sure how things are now, but this decision caused many, many employees to quit, including myself.
I see the same cashiers at my neighborhood Harris Teeter, who've been there for many years. Maybe it's different at the corporate office? But I see the same faces at the store nearly every time I go, and have for a very long time.

Its not the cashiers who make the big money. The distribution center employees probably double what a cashier makes.
